Livestrong LS8.0e Elliptical

Livestrong LS8.0e Elliptical

I have been waiting to do my Livestrong LS8.0e Elliptical review until I got a chance to get on one of these highly rated ellipticals in person and give it a good run-through.

I had that chance last week on a few of their cross trainers so please enjoy my Livestrong LS8.0e, LS10.0e and the top of the line LS13.0e Elliptical reviews.

The Livestrong LS8.0e is the entry level elliptical trainer in their line-up with a price tag well below $1000 and has a number of quality features built-in for an entry level machine.

While the features are plentiful on the 8.0e, it’s not exactly a “forever elliptical” as you will probably end up buying a nicer machine a few years down the road. To find out why, keep reading the review below…

What I Like About the Livestrong LS8.0e Elliptical Trainer

There’s a lot to like about the LS8.0 elliptical as Livestrong did many things right. For starters I like the fact that the stride length is a roomy 20″ as opposed to the standard 18″ stride found on many machines in this price range.

They’ve also outfitted the LS8.0e with some standard features that are common on all three of their elliptical machines including 16 levels of adjustable resistance, contact heart rate grips, a strong frame with what they call SixStar Certification (lifetime warranty), and 0″ Q-factor pedals.

Of the features above, I’m most impressed that the  LS8.0e shares the 0″ Q-factor pedals with its’ sibling ellipticals.

The 0″ Q-factor is the distance between the pedals while the machine is in motion — you can get the entire Q-factor explanation on the Livestrong website here — and makes for a comfortable ride and reduces your chance for foot pain and discomfort.

What I Don’t Like About the Livestrong LS8.0e Elliptical Machine

While the LS8.0e does have a lot going for it — especially for the price — there are a couple of small things that I didn’t like about this elliptical.

The first thing that stood out on the LS8.0e is the glide rail for the pedals that are elevated at about a 20 degree angle from the drive system of the machine. I’d prefer that the glide rails be parallel to the ground like they are on the higher-end Livestrong ellipticals and on competitors like the Sole E35 & E95 ellipticals.

I also wasn’t crazy about the manual incline on this machine. It’s kind of a pain to have to get off the elliptical and change the incline if you’re doing a varied workout, but at least it’s an option, so it’s kind of a double edged sword.

Bottom Line on the LS8.0e Elliptical

The Livestrong LS8.0e elliptical is far from the perfect elliptical machine but considering what you get for the money in features and build quality along with a long warranty, I think the 8.0e elliptical is the best machine in this price range and is highly recommended.
